Designed and manufactured exclusively by HI-RISE, RoofJockey™ (often referred to as a ‘roof jockey’ system) is a portable, lightweight needle system designed to provide safe facade access solutions for industrial abseiling teams working at height.
Constructed from high-strength aircraft-grade aluminium, it provides a rope access attachment point on buildings without pre-existing anchor points. With an outreach that extends over parapets and balustrades, it prevents damage to either the building or the technician’s ropes.
It can also be used as a materials lifting device, which is particularly useful when replacing glass windows, as RoofJockey™ can lift them into position along the exterior face of a building.
The HI-RISE ROOFJOCKEY™ is a mobile industrial rope access system that provides safe, temporary facade access without the need for permanent anchor points and can be used for many specialist applications, including:

Highly flexible, RoofJockey™ is particularly useful in locations where anchor points or davit systems are unsuitable. It eliminates the need for an expensive height safety system to be permanently installed onto a roof, as it can be maneuvered around the perimeter of the roof space depending on where maintenance, inspection or facade work needs to occur.
Most units can be dismantled into small compact components for ease of transport and storage.
RoofJockey™ is an ideal height safety solution for facade access and other applications where:
- balustrades or parapets cannot support a rope load
- a roof or balcony is publicly accessed, making permanent systems such as anchors or davit arms unsuitable as they either impact aesthetics or present a potential trip hazard
- large areas need to be accessed, making permanent height safety systems cost-prohibitive
temporary or portable facade access is needed without modifying the building’s structure
Designed and manufactured by HI-RISE, units can be customised to suit specific site requirements. Limitless dimensions and outreach capacities are available; variations can be made to the backleg length, outreach capacity and weight, depending on:

- space constraints
- parapet clearance height
- ongoing maintenance requirements
Available in a natural, anodised or powder-coated finish, each RoofJockey™ can also be colour-matched to specification.
Designed and tested to comply with AS/NZS ISO 22846.2:2020, each RoofJockey™ is load tested in the HI-RISE factory prior to installation and comes with an independent engineering certificate and manual to explain setup, usage and configuration. An annual inspection, testing and re-certification service is also available.

RoofJockey™ Multi
RoofJockey™ Multi can be configured up to six ways to suit different applications, making it the most flexible model available.
Weighing between 180-420 kilos, it is easy to manoeuvre and can be dismantled and transported between sites, which makes it ideal for contractors such as window cleaners.
RoofJockey™ Horizon
RoofJockey™ Horizon is a versatile model with its shorter back leg and long outreach providing good clearance.
RoofJockey™ Edge
RoofJockey™ Edge is a smaller unit, so is perfect for confined spaces like balconies.
With a short outreach and short backleg, it is ideal for reaching over non-load bearing balustrades to enable maintenance work on the face of a building.
RoofJockey™ Mini
Mini has been designed for the perimeter of buildings which have a narrow maintenance corridor.
With a very short backleg, Mini needs to be connected to anchors fixed on a concrete roof. After use, Mini can be collapsed for storage onsite.
RoofJockey™ Tower
RoofJockey™ Tower is specifically designed for roofs which have a parapet higher than 2 metres.
It provides an elevated work platform so that the outreach can safely clear barriers for maintenance and repair work.
RoofJockey™ Ultra-light Needles
RoofJockey™ Ultra-light Needles are recommended if technicians need to navigate around obstacles so that the rope deviates off the vertical.
The Ultra-Light Needle connects to anchors or rails which have been permanently fixed onto the roof. Quick to attach, they easily collapse for either relocation or storage. Different sizes can be manufactured to suit specific site requirements.
RoofJockey™ Hire
Rather than purchasing a RoofJockey™, HI-RISE also has various models available for weekly hire.
It’s critical that you have well-maintained and fully inspected access equipment on site and ready for use when needed – especially for high-risk tasks like facade access, maintenance, or inspections.
