Client: Melbourne Airport
Location: Qantas Hangar
Project: Aviation Hangar Overhead Fall Arrest Monorail System

Hi-Rise delivered a twin overhead Bomac monorail system to provide safe and continuous access for inspection and maintenance works within an aircraft maintenance facility. The rails were positioned to align with aircraft wings, enabling maintenance personnel to work safely and efficiently along the upper surfaces.

Monorail systems offer versatile and unobtrusive fall protection for overhead environments where continuous coverage and precise positioning are required. This installation supports secure movement along the work zone while minimising disruption to operations and preserving clear floor space below.

Client: University of Melbourne
Location: Parkville Campus – Building 202
Project: Solar Access Roof Walkway and Monorail System

Hi-Rise delivered a specialist roof access solution to support the University of Melbourne’s future solar infrastructure. The scope included the design and fabrication of a dedicated access walkway and staircase, complemented by an overhead monorail to facilitate rope access operations for ongoing maintenance.

This integrated system enables safe, efficient movement across the roof while offering flexible options for maintenance personnel working on solar installations and associated building services. By combining engineered walkways with rope access capabilities, the design supports long-term operational efficiency and ensures compliance with relevant height safety requirements.

The result is a durable and accessible solution that aligns with the University’s renewable energy objectives while prioritising technician safety.

Client: University of Melbourne
Location: 218 A’Becket St – Istana Apartments
Project: Rail-Mounted Abseil Needle System

Hi-Rise designed and manufactured a custom rope access needle system to provide safe and efficient facade access for maintenance and inspection works. The needle was installed on a roof-mounted monorail, allowing operators to traverse the building perimeter with continuous coverage and movement.

With a 2.4 m outreach, the system enabled technicians to safely clear a defective balustrade on the level below while maintaining optimal positioning for facade tasks. The design also accounted for existing mechanical services on the roof, ensuring unobstructed travel and minimal impact on other building infrastructure.

This purpose-built solution provides a versatile and compliant facade access system that supports the building’s long-term maintainability while meeting the client’s operational safety requirements.

Client: Boral
Location: Montrose Quarry
Project: Overhead Monorail System

Hi-Rise delivered an overhead X-rail system to enable safe and continuous access for inspection and maintenance activities within a shipping container that forms part of the site’s asphalt distribution process.

The confined space required detailed 3D modelling to ensure the rail alignment and support structure met strict clearance tolerances, preventing any potential collision with the mobile hopper that moves through the area.

Custom-engineered support bollards were installed to suspend the rail and provide a reliable overhead anchorage point. The system offers consistent fall protection and allows technicians to access required equipment regardless of the mobile hopper’s position.

This tailored installation enhances operational safety while ensuring maintenance tasks can be carried out efficiently within a highly constrained environment.
