Engineering Projects

Hi-Rise designs and engineers custom access systems that solve complex height and facade access challenges. Our team works with architects, builders and asset owners to deliver platforms, monorails, needle systems, stair assemblies and other bespoke solutions tailored to site constraints and structural requirements. All systems are developed to Australian Standards, supported by detailed modelling and certification.

Client: Metro Tunnel
Location: Parkville Station, Melbourne
Project: Custom Building Maintenance System

Hi-Rise designed, engineered and manufactured a custom dual-rail building maintenance system to support safe facade and lighting access where EWPs could not reach.

The rails were configured to navigate large structural members while maintaining a low-profile installation that complemented the architectural design.

A removable two-person maintenance basket provides secure footing and fall protection without the need for rope access. The basket travels laterally along the rails and can be raised or lowered to enable efficient glazing and lighting maintenance across the facade.

Client: Multiplex
Location: 183–187 Grattan St
Project: Journal Student Living – Integrated Height and Facade Access Systems

Hi-Rise delivered a comprehensive height access and facade maintenance system for the Journal Student Living development. Close coordination with the architects and builders was essential to ensure each system could be seamlessly integrated into the design while achieving full facade coverage.

The scope included removable davit arms designed for use across low-profile bases concealed beneath floor pavers, as well as socket bases installed within landscaped garden beds. Access to building services is supported by AS 1657-compliant ladder systems with guardrails installed to provide edge protection.

Multiple horizontal lifelines were installed across balconies to enable safe servicing and cleaning of gutters and maintenance of garden areas.

This integrated solution provides a practical, compliant and unobtrusive access strategy tailored to the building’s operational needs.

Client: Grocon
Location: AAMI Stadium, Melbourne
Project: Custom engineering and installation

Immediately recognisable by its distinctive dome roof, Melbourne’s AAMI Stadium required a bespoke height safety solution incorporating fall arrest to support ongoing maintenance and repairs.

Hi-Rise was engaged to deliver a custom engineered system for this landmark structure, including the design and fabrication of a unique prototype as part of the successful tender submission.

Across 18 months, Hi-Rise designed, manufactured and installed walkway, fall arrest and rope access systems tailored to the stadium’s complex geometry. Precision welding ensured the walkway followed both the dome contours and the oval footprint, maintaining architectural intent. To preserve the stadium’s visual profile, horizontal lifelines were installed on either side of the walkway in place of handrails, providing compliant fall arrest capability without impacting aesthetics.

Client: Probuild
Location: Elizabeth Quay, Perth
Project: Custom engineering and installation

With a proven track record in developing innovative access solutions, Hi-Rise was engaged to design, fabricate and install the height safety systems for The Towers and Ritz-Carlton Hotel at Elizabeth Quay in Perth.

Hi-Rise engineers developed a fully customised solution tailored to the site’s architectural and operational requirements. The system incorporated tower jockeys, needles, rail-based rope access and fall protection, davits, anchors, rope-support rail and ladders — ensuring comprehensive and compliant access for inspection and maintenance activities.

All equipment and components were manufactured at Hi-Rise’s Melbourne facility and transported to Perth for installation by Hi-Rise technicians over a six-month period, providing seamless integration from design through to commissioning.
